About Us

Learn about LK St. Clair Soccer's mission and team


LK St. Clair Soccer is a registered 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to allow soccer players in southeast Michigan to improve their skill, partake in competitive soccer against teams in one of the best leagues nationally and to continue their love of the game while enriching the local community. We want to build a sustainable ecosystem of soccer ranging from youth to adult men’s and women’s soccer. We believe that through our organization, one will gain a stronger understanding of teamwork, hard work, and community improvement. Each person will not only make this impact on the field, but also to carry these values through his/her everyday life.

Founding - Spring 2017

LK St. Clair was officially incoporated in the state of Michigan in March 2017 . It became a 501(c)(3) in April 2017

Innagural Season - Summer 2017

LK St. Clair had 25 players from locations as far as 45 minutes away from the home field at L'Anse Creuse High School in Harrison Township, MI. 

LK St. Clair finished 7-3-0 (W-L-T) in the MPSL, Michigan Premier Soccer League, Open Division. 

LK St. Clair overall record in competition was 7-5 with a loss in the opening round of the Gerhard Mengel State Cup and MPSL League Cup

Future Plans - Winter 2017

LK St. Clair is pursuing partners for a grant that will allow it to have a permanent home for its adult and youth clubs.

Expansion - Spring 2018

LK St. Clair has been approved to have 2 (two) clubs in the 2018 MPSL season!

Summer 2018 Season

LK St. Clair had 40 players from locations as far as 45 minutes away from the home field at Macomb Community College in Warren, MI.

LK St. Clair I finished 4-7-1 (W-L-T) in the MPSL First Division. A loss in the first round of the League Cup to Metro Rangers and a loss in the first round of the Gerhard Mengel to Michigan Sporting, ended hopes of a tournament run.

LK St. Clair II finished 5-4-1 (W-L-T) in the MPSL Open Division.  A loss in the first round of the League Cup to Shabab Al-Yemen II ended hopes of a tournament run.

Expansion - Spring 2019

LK St. Clair Soccer has been approved to have a women's compete in the 2019 MPSL season!

Summer 2019 Season

LK St. Clair launched its first women's team!

The women finished the regular season 3-5-0 (W-L-T) in the MPSL.

The men's first team finished 1-6-2 (W-L-T) in the Premier division of the MPSL, finished as finalist in the Gerhard Mengel State Cup, and represented USASA Region II where they also finished as a finalist.

The men's second team finished 1-3-4 (W-L-T) in the MPSL with early League Cup and State cup losses.

Grants - 2019

With the help of Advancing Macomb, LK St. Clair was awarded a GM (General Motors) Grant for beautification of a future field in Mt. Clemens and the ability to host free camps!

In addition, for Giving Tuesday in December, LK won a First State Bank $10k grand prize that will also go towards the transformation of the Mt. Clemens field project.

Midwest Premier League - 2020

Mehmed Muharemovic

Mehmed is the acting President of LK St. Clair Soccer. As the original idea man for starting LK St. Clair Soccer Inc, he was inspired by the lack of opportunities available to soccer players who wanted to play competitively but had outgrown high school and club level competition locally in his hometown of Harrison Towship, Michigan. He has received great help from the other co-founders and volunteers in making this club a reality in such a short time.  He graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and is currently a Software Engineer at General Motors in Detroit, MI. He is also a Leadership Macomb XXII graduate.

Emina Alic

Vice President

Emina is the Vice President for LK St. Clair Soccer, Inc. in 2019, she graduated from law school at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and is working to pass her BAR. She grew up in Hamtramck, MI where she was very involved with her high school and community. She believes in the organization’s mission to build an ecosystem that brings individuals together through their love for soccer and giving back to the community. As the VP, she is responsible for keeping track of the organization’s activities to make sure the actions of LK. St Clair Soccer, Inc. are in accordance with the organization’s bylaws and ensuring the smooth functioning of management.

Zuhair Issa

Director of Marketing and Public Relations

L'Anse Creuse High School Assistant Coach 2015-2019

Zuhair is the Director of Marketing and Public Relations at LK St. Clair Soccer, Inc. He grew up locally in Harrison Township, graduated from L'Anse Creuse High School, and in 2019 graduated from Oakland University with a degree in Political Science. He was recently accepted into the Masters of Public Administration program at Oakland University. He is the assistant varsity coach at L'Anse Creuse High School. He was the President of his fraternity and has since gone alumni. He is currently working as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Oakland University.

Alexander Szust

Director of Finance

FIFA'14 Career Mode - Manager of the Year Recipient

Alex handles the finances for LK St. Clair Soccer, Inc. Originally from Miami, Florida, he graduated from the University of Michigan School of Engineering and has since made Southeast Michigan his home. He is committed to maintaining the financial stability of LK St. Clair Soccer in addition to appropriating resources for the growth of both this club and the soccer community. He is currently an engineer with Ford Motor Company.

Michael Hummon, MBA

Director of Business Strategy

Michael is supporting LK St. Clair Soccer to meet their business needs on and off the field. He grew up in the village of Romeo, and graduated from Siena Heights University (SHU) with a Bachelor's of Business Administration and Marketing, and in 2018 completed his MBA at Walsh College. He was a player for SHU's men's soccer team 2011-2014. He was awarded to the 2014 All WHAC Academic team, as well as seasons' 2013/2014 Champions of Character Award. Currently, he is employed at MRM//McCann as a Content Manager.  

Brandon Wilkinson

Director of Medical Affairs

Brandon is the director of medical affairs for LK St. Clair Soccer. In 2019, he graduated from the Wayne State University School of Medicine and is currently in his first year of a Neurosurgery residency at Syracuse University. He grew up in Clinton Township, MI and earned his Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Biochemistry from Michigan State University. He has worked to establish protocols for sideline management of acute injuries during games and practices. In addition to helping to establish a partnership between LK St. Clair and medical programs, Brandon works to educate 1st and 2nd year medical students in diagnosing and treating sports-related injuries.

Sylvia DiStefano

Women's Manager

Sylvia is the new women's team manager for LK St. Clair Soccer. She has played and managed in the Michigan Premier Soccer League for over 9 years, while also being the Women's Conference Commissioner for the last 4 (and counting). She graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing where she played and help run the club team there for all 4 years. Right now, she currently works as a Project Manager at DP+. Her experience with the league and in her career will be very beneficial as the LK St. Clair Soccer Club continues to grow.

Michael Kepler

Women's Coach

Michael is the true definition of LK St. Clair Soccer. He holds current head coaching positions as the boys varsity coach at Fraser HS, girls varsity coach at Almont HS, and a coach for Nationals girls. Previously, he was an assistant at Marygrove College, Henry Ford II varsity, and PSG/Nationals soccer. Not just a coach, but a player, he came onboard as a player for LK in the 2018 season, having also had experience playing Fraser Soccer Club, Michigan Legacy, Fraser HS, and Marygrove College. Throughout his soccer career, Michael has also pursued his degrees, graduating from Oakland University in 2015 with a Bachelors of Criminal Justice.
